Love Movement is not your ordinary band. This ensemble, led by tap dancer Michela Marino Lerman, is a hybrid of the highest levels of musicianship and hoofing. This group incorporates original music, spirituals, jazz, traditional and electronic tap boards, which will surely challenge your thoughts, uplift, and send you dancing all the way home. Love Movement reflects a journey through the levels of love we experience throughout life starting with familial love, self-love and realization, protest, prayer, spiritual love, and finally romantic love. Love Movement is an immersive musical experience that will leave the audience feeling moved and empowered.
There are many members and guests of Love Movement which have included musicians Russell Hall, Mathis Picard, Chris Pattishall, Gabe Schnider, Vuyo Sotashe, Shenel Johns, Alphonso Horne, Patrick Bartley, Julian Lee, Marty Jaffe, Kyle Poole, Evan Sherman, Savannah Harris, and many more. And tap dancers Andre Imanishi, Jalen Phifer, Jabu Graybeal, Roxanne King, Orlando Hernandez and Liberty Styles.

JOYCE THEATRE: GET READY FOR LOVE MOVEMENT!
I am beyond thrilled to anounce that Love Movement will be performing for a full week at the Joyce Theater from March 29th through April 3rd, presenting a new work entitled Once Upon a Time Called Now... This is a life long dream fulfilled for me; I went to High School around the corner and grew up just a few blocks away!! I will be creating the show with a new story and choreography by yours truly and there will be all new music composed in collaboration with the wonderful, Russell Hall. The show will feature a larger ensemble, including Russell Hall (Bass), Mathis Picard (Piano), Gabe Schnider (Guitar), Alphonso Horne (Trumpet), Shenel Johns (Vocals) and several other players; tap artists Orlando Hernandez, Roxanne King and more. It is also my absolute honor to share that we will have recorded passages performed by the incomparable by Anna Deavere Smith. I hope you will join me and Love Movement for our performances!!

Catching Up...
This year the pandemic halted us but we are back and Love MVMT, Inc. is producing three different groups!! With Tauremini I join with Mathis Picard and Russell Hall, in Big Love with Gabe Schnider and Russell Hall, and of course our large ensemble Love Movement. Recent live streamed performances include one with the Wide Awakes, one at Smalls Jazz Club and a third at Seeds Brooklyn. Live performances include three shows at NYC’s Little Island, one featuring special guest Gnawa master Hassan Hakmoun; and road performances at Visions and Voices at the University of Southern California and the Quick Center at Fairfield University, CT. Past Love Movement performances include The Whitney Museum of American Art, Jazz At Lincoln Center, The Strathmore, Caramoor Jazz Festival, Joe’s Pub, Ginny’s Supper Club, Jazz in the Cave and more.
